Although it has increased to use the method mouth rinsing 450ppm fluoride weekly, it has not been shown that this method has cariostatic effect. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of weekly mouth-rinsing with 450 ppm fluoride by using the results of dental health check in schools. The research was conducted to three children groups : The children who were mouth rinsed with 250ppm fluoride five times a week from in nursery school or kindergarten and with 450ppm fluoride weekly in elementary and junior high schools : The children who were mouth rinsed with 250ppm fluoride five times a week from in elementary school : The children who were not mouth rinsed in elementary nor in junior high school. In these children groups (pupils ranged from in elementary school to 12 years old), the cariostatic effect was examined by comparing the rates of DMF, DMFT index, DMFT rate of maxillary first molar teeth, DMFT rate depending on the tooth type, DMFT rate of erupted and un-erupted maxillary first molar teeth when they enter elementary school. In the group which were mouth rinsed with 250ppm fluoride five times a week from in nursery school or kindergarten and with 450ppm fluoride weekly in elementary and junior high schools, it was shown to have a high cariostatic effect. Moreover, this group was admitted to have higher cariostatic effect compared to the other two groups : the group mouth-rinsed with 250ppm fluoride five times a week since in elementary school and, the group not mouth-rinsed in elementary nor in junior high
