In our “Public Health” lectures for second-year students at Asahi University School of Dentistry, we divided students into two classes, alternating between lectures given in face-to-face format and remote format. In our study, we conducted the questionnaire surveys on students’ comprehension and satisfaction with our “Public Health” lecture in face-to-face format and remote format. As each lecture questionnaire survey, we gave students choice of scale of 4 (1=lowest, 4=highest) for their comprehension and satisfaction with lecture in face-to-face format and remote format. After all lectures, we asked students to choose which is more comprehended and satisfied, in face-to-face format or in remote format, and to answer an open-ended question to give the reasons for their choice. Furthermore, the future improvements of lecture format were asked in an open-ended question. As a result, in comprehension, the median score for face-to-face format was 3.3 points and that for remote format was 3.1 points, indicating the score of face-to-face format was significantly larger than that of remote format (p=0.012). In satisfaction, there was no signifi cant difference between face-to-face format and remote format, with the median score of 3.4 points for both formats. In the surveys after all lectures, many students answered that face-to-face format was better than remote format both in comprehension and satisfaction.
