内容記述 | The Fourth Basic Plan for the Promotion of Education, approved by the Japanese Cabinet in 2023, sets forth “fostering creators of a sustainable society” and “improving the Japanese way of well-being rooted in Japanese culture.” In this plan, achieving well-being means that each diverse individual should feel happiness and purpose in life, as well as the community and society should feel happiness and affluence. The plan states that improving the Japanese way of well-being should be achieved through education. English classes, in particular, have the potential to offer meaningful opportunities for students not only to improve language competencies but also to enhance self-confidence, strengthen social bonds, and promote personal growth, fostering their well-being. This study examines how English classes can contribute to well-being by balancing achievement-oriented elements (e.g., self-assurance)and cooperative elements (e.g., altruism). Through an analysis of learners’ reflections on English classes using an AI-based text mining tool, the study identifies how language activities can enhance learners’ well-being and explores strategies to foster well-being in English education. | |||||||||
