| 内容記述 | “Keisatsu-to ga toriastukau shitai no shiin mataha mimoto no chosa-to ni kansuru houritu”（ Act on the Investigation into the Cause of Death or Identity of Corpse by Police［ Act on the Investigation into Cause of Death or Identity］）（ enforced on April 1, 2013） and “Shiinkyumei-to suishin kihon hou”（ Basic Act on the Promotion of Investigation of the Cause of Death and on Identification of Bodies）（ enforced on April 1, 2020） were established. These laws prescribe undergraduate education and scientific investigations into forensic dentistry at dentistry schools, particularly concerning the personal identification of an unidentified corpse by dental findings. In accordance with these laws, undergraduate students of Asahi University School of Dentistry enrolled in forensic dentistry to help them in gathering dental evidence, making a postmortem dental chart, estimating age based on the tooth replacement status from deciduous teeth to permanent teeth or attrition degree of mandibular incisors, and determining sex by DNA analysis using saliva, dental pulp, and periodontal membrane samples. The results revealed that through experience and training, undergraduate students can acquire personal identification skills based on dental evidence and DNA analysis data from teeth and saliva. | |||||||||
