内容記述 This is one of my two articles that I wrote about my English class which dealt with the concluding speech of Charlie Chaplin’s 1940 film “The Great Dictator. ”This oral interpretation class was conducted all through the second semester of the year 2016. In the previous article I wrote about what I did and thought before I started the lesson. But here in this article I recorded how I did it. And in reviewing the records I made an analytic consideration on how to improve the oral interpretation lesson. This article consists of three chapters. In the first chapter I reviewed the lesson in a macro-perspective eye. I found that the translation worksheet needs to be changed into a less time-consuming one, so that the students can pour more of their energy into oral practices. In the next chapter I made a time-series analysis on a few problems that I had to overcome. The one I thought most important was that the learners need more training for “rapid” rhythm reading during the classes. In the third chapter, I introduced at the very beginning several lines from the 1997 publication of Mr.Terasima, because I found in his account that there was something very important that I failed to do before I started this class. It is, again, the training for “rapid” rhythm reading. I learned that the teacher needs to make students fully ready and capable for the speed this speech has. It means that the teachers should plan and design his/her lesson in a longer term viewpoint, at least one-year span, if they want to make a successful oral interpretation of Chaplin’s “the Great Dictator”speech..
