| 内容記述 | The Third Basic Plan for the Promotion of Education was approved by the Japanese government cabinet in 2018. One of the goals in this plan is to achieve more than fifty percent of junior high school students to graduate with English proficiency of an equivalent of A 1 level or higher and senior high school students A 2 level or higher in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) by the end of 2022. Since 2013, Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has been conducting an annual survey at all public schools about the status of English education policy and collecting data to see its effectiveness. Using the results from the surveys, this paper will illustrate status quo of high school students’ English learning and discover some remaining challenges in high schools in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. | |||||||||||||||||
